DANIELE BERDINI
BARITONE SAXOPHONE
Daniele Berdini (1969) graduated with top honours at Conservatory "Pergolesi" Fermo in 1991. He continued his studies with Jean-Marie Londeix.
He won the first prize at T.I.M. and he won the audition as saxophonist at Orchestra del Teatro Regio in Torino, Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Civica Orchestra di Fiati in Milano, and Orchestra di Fiati della Svizzera Italiana.
As soloist and member of various chamber music groups, orchestras and wind orchestras, he has played in renowned venues and festivals in Italy and abroad.
In 1992 - on the occasion of the X World Saxophone Congress (Pesaro) - he was invited to play Kya by Giacinto Scelsi for saxophone and orchestra.
He is one of the founders of the Lost Cloud Quartet with whom he collaborated with Salvatore Sciarrino. Thanks to this collaboration he gave the première of La bocca, i piedi e il suono (1997), Pagine and Canzoniere da Scarlatti - both written by Sciarrino for the Lost Cloud Quartet. Moreover, he gave the premiè,;re of Terribile e spaventosa storia del Principe di Venosa e della bella Maria (1999) and Studi per l'intonazione del mare (2000).
He presented these works in Italy and abroad - gaining full success - in venues and festivals such as Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Roma, Festival Lirico in Osimo, RAI in Rome, Filarmonica Romana, Filarmonica Laudamo, Amici della Musica in Palermo, Teatro Regio in Torino, Teatro San Carlo in Napoli, Palazzo Pitti in Firenze, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome during the festival Nuova Consonanza, Amici della Musica in Foggia, Festival d'Automne de Paris, Hebbel Theatre in Berlin, Festival Gesualdo in Venosa, Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Strasbourg, Festival Les Amplitudes in La Chaux De Fonds (CH), Salzburger Festspiele for the concert series "Kontinent Sciarrino" and Accademia Chigiana in Siena. Beyond Sciarrino, he gave the italian première of works by other well known composers in the historical contemporary scene like Donatoni, Manzoni, Perezzani and Xenakis.
He recorded numerous CD among which Salvatore Sciarrino - La Bocca i Piedi il Suono (col legno, 2004), Salvatore Sciarrino – Terribile e spaventosa storia del Principe di Venosa e della bella Maria (Zig Zag Territoires, 2004), Salvatore Sciarrino – Studi per l'intonazione del mare (Stradivarius, 2000).
He is currently teaching saxophone at Conservatorio "U. Giordano" in Foggia.
